Silverstone 2005

May 2005 saw us having a wonderful opportunity to visit Silverstone for different kinds of racing.  It was the GT Car Championship, the World Touring Car Championship and the Ferrari Challenge.  3 different racing styles, lots of different cars and guaranteed to be an adrenaline rush.  It was also great to just wander round the car park and see the different types of cars there that people drove and had parked up.

Having a good walk round when we got there meant we saw some good cars.  Dave nearly died when he saw this beauty - not a car we see often shall we say..............

A very nice Pagani Zonda and Dave drooling at the sight of it!!!!

Then we recognized a car we had seen back in September...

A very nice Porsche Carrera GT, We  knew it belonged to someone but couldn't think who..................then that was it............we saw him.................one of our favourite British Formula 1 Grand Prix drivers..................JENSON BUTTON!

Jenson was there watching his friend race in the GT section.  He was really relaxed, happy to have a chat and a photo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aston Martin DBR9 and Masserati

A very nice TVR and a bright Corvette

Later in the day came the WTCC racing.  The first race saw the Alfa Romeo's on the front line but then the second race saw the SEATS which we loved as we both drive SEATS.  One of our favourite BTCC drivers was in the WTCC in a SEAT - Jason Plato, we got to meet him and he was a really nice guy, and Dave got a special souvenir of the day.............................................

One of the Alfa's

With Jason Plato's SEAT

The safety car in position just in case...

On the podium, winners of the WTCC, Jason Plato is the first driver on the left, he got 2nd place (can't miss the yellow pants!)

Before the Ferrari Challenge we got to see the cars in the paddock and have a good look.  They are great looking cars the 360 but boy they were battered as they really do race and touch each other and there was so much tape holding bits together on many of them we were amazed to see this on a Ferrari!

And finally the perfect end to a perfect day with a souvenir...

Dave somehow manages to get a Tyre off the car Jason Plato drove

"I know it's off a SEAT Dave, but I don't think it'll fit yours!!!!!"
